This is an exciting chance to join our friendly, informal department which provides dietetic services to Epsom Hospital, Surrey and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our dynamic team. There will be opportunities for cross site working on our St Helier site.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain a range of Dietetic experience in a supportive environment. You may be newly qualified or wish to consolidate your existing experience before moving on to a more specialised role.
The successful candidate will provide a Dietetic service to acute medical and care of the elderly wards alongside gaining some experience in gastroenterology and stroke wards.
We actively encourage personal development and you will have the opportunity to learn from colleagues working in specialist areas. The department currently provides training for placement 1, 2 and 3 students and you will participate in this as part of the team.
• To provide advice to referred patients and carers, and clinicians. This will involve nutritional assessment; to include the calculation of nutritional requirements based on the interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometry, clinical condition and other physical parameters.
• To interpret received information concerning medical and social history to ensure advice is given in a person centred and culturally specific way.
• To support the use of a nutrition-screening tool for inpatients to ensure patients are appropriately referred to the dietitian.
• To be responsible for the discharge planning of patients going home on artificial nutritional support.
• To identify patients who will need to be followed up in the community and make appropriate onward dietetic referrals.
• To provide nutrition teaching sessions to other members of the multidisciplinary team and identified patient groups as required.
• To work closely with dietetic team to provide an appropriate service to patients.
Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey.
