Junior Lighting Controls Commissioning Engineer

Thirsk | Permanent | £25,000 - £35,000/year | www.cv-library.co.uk |
Junior Lighting Controls Commissioning Engineer | Thirsk, North Yorkshire | Full Time | c. £25,000-£35,000 per annum

We are a leading lighting design and Lutron lighting controls dealer. We are seeking to recruit a Junior Lighting Controls Engineer. Based in North Yorkshire, we work on highly prestigious projects across the UK and occasionally abroad.

The successful candidate will be electrically qualified and/or very competent, with experience of working in residential construction, but without necessarily any previous experience in lighting controls. Attitude and ability to learn are more important than lighting controls experience, as we will intensively train and develop.

The role would suit an electrician who would like to expand their horizons and develop a real expertise working at the top end of the lighting field. As both a leading lighting design firm and a Diamond level Lutron dealer we have a unique 'end to end' approach, and a very close working relationship with our clients.
We are looking to recruit someone who can learn, grow, and ultimately manage parts of the business in the future.

This role will be based out of the offices in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, and you need to be within a commutable distance of Thirsk (most of the team live within c.1-1.5 hours of the office.) Projects are northern biased but the team work nationally and being onsite when required are important.

This role is perfect for someone looking to grow – whilst the 'start point' in the role is Lutron lighting controls/blinds installation and programming, our client would expect the successful applicant to (over time) develop the skills do a much broader project management and client/site leadership and liaison role.

Are you the right person for the job?

For any new member of the team, the employer expects to do a lot of training either on courses or on the job. Successful candidates will have/be the following:

Electrically qualified (ideally) or electrically very competent.
At least 3 years experience of working in high end residential construction.
With experience of lighting or AV controls an advantage but not essential
Networking (IT) experience an advantage but not essential
Curious, hungry to learn, and with a 'can do' attitude
Organised and professional
Great attention to detail
Good communicator with a wide range of people (eg; clients, site teams)
Willing and able to travel to project sites. The amount varies on a weekly basis; the role is not entirely office based but it's not 'working away' either.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced small team environment
Driving licence
Fluent English
Must have permanent right to live and work in the UK
What will your role look like?

Under guidance from other very experienced members of the team, your role will involve

Designing, programming and commissioning lighting control systems, primarily Lutron HomeWorks
Installing and commissioning Lutron electric blinds and curtain tracks
Helping to solve onsite lighting issues. This can be very hands on
Helping maintain the office premises and lighting displays
What can you expect in return?

Great personal development and being involved with enormously rewarding projects
The team share in ownership of the company
Company vehicle
Private healthcare
Holiday increases with long service
