Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Council Tax Officer to join our team. As a Council Tax Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely collection of council tax payments from residents within our jurisdiction.
You will be responsible for carrying out a range of tasks related to council tax administration, including managing accounts, processing payments, resolving queries, and initiating recovery proceedings when necessary. The ideal candidate for this role is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities
Assessing and verifying council tax liability for residents.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date council tax accounts.
Processing council tax payments and ensuring they are allocated correctly.
Investigating and resolving council tax queries and disputes.
Delivery of council tax bills and notifications.
Initiating recovery proceedings for unpaid council tax.
Liaising with other departments and external agencies regarding council tax matters.
Requirements
A minimum of [3] years of experience in council tax administration or a related field.
Strong knowledge of council tax legislation and regulations.
Proficiency in using council tax management systems.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Flexibility to adapt to changing work demands.
Hours Per Week: 35.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £19.27
Location: Kingston Upon Thames, South West London
