Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship
Location: Hartlepool (TS25)
Length of Apprenticeship: 3 years
Salary: Year 1 GBP 12,147(Annual salary reviews subject to satisfactory performance and progression through the apprentice scheme.)

Make a Tangible Impact

As an electrical craft maintenance engineer you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability, quality and performance of the relevant equipment. This will involve preventative and breakdown maintenance, installation of equipment and continuous improvement techniques in an effort to reduce costs and improve efficiency

Exposure to duties will include the use of a computer based maintenance and stores system, isolation / making safe equipment, following prescribed preventative maintenance routines, responding to breakdown situations and apply continuous improvement techniques work.

The tasks cover a wide range of disciplines and equipment including:

 •  Safety Critical Systems
 •  Conveyance and pipe handling equipment
 •  Over Head Cranes and mobile plant
 •  Motor Maintenance (AC and DC)
 •  Inverter and Converter drive systems
 •  Low Voltage and High Voltage distribution
 •  Domestic and Industrial installations
 •  Automated cutting and milling equipment
 •  High Frequency Induction Heating and Welding equipment
 •  PC and PLC Software

Universal skills gained are:

 •  Application of IET Regulations
 •  Inspection and Plant Condition Monitoring (Plant Maintenance)
 •  Fault finding and diagnosis
 •  Slinging, Rigging and Transportation
 •  Bench fitting and machining skills, drill, presses, lathe, grinding

The Apprenticeship

The successful candidate will be joining an established 3 year apprenticeship training program using nationally recognized qualification, leading to an "Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Apprenticeship". This apprenticeship is delivered by TTE (Teesside Training Enterprise) and Middlesbrough College.

The three year period will consist of:

 •  Year 1: Full time College Study (Level 2 and 3)
 •  Year 2 and 3: Onsite shift:working* with one day release to college. This includes a rotation within different departments/functions.
 •  Shift work is dependent on age.

Apprentices are encouraged to enhance their studies further by completing a HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the latter part of their apprenticeship.

Experience will include aspects of:

 •  Maintenance Engineering and Planning
 •  Environmental and Energy Awareness
 •  H and S Working (IOSH)
 •  Continuous Improvement techniques

We See Your Potential

You must have, as a minimum, 6 GCSE's, grades A* : C or grade 4 : 9. Two GCSE's must be at Grade B (6) or higher in Mathematics and one STEM Subject, and four GCSE's must be at Grade C (4) or higher and include English Language.
