Cabinet Maker / Joiner

We’re a luxury furniture maker who work with an international client base. We are an ambitious organisation who are passionate about the industrial heritage of the region, which plays a key role in inspiring what we do.

Our closely-knit team of designers, craftsmen and metalworkers are looking for a talented Cabinet Maker / Joiner. We need someone with a sharp eye and exceptional attention to detail.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ worth of relevant industry experience and ideally have a good understanding of metalworking (although not essential). Above all, you should be passionate about your work and have a willingness to learn.

The right candidate should:

Have a minimum of 5 years’ worth of workshop-based professional experience.
Have an existing right to work in the UK.
Have a valid UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
Be able to commute to our workshop in Northeast England or be able to relocate within 1 month.
Possess at least basic working knowledge of metalwork (desirable but not essential).
Have experience working with bespoke furniture commissions.
Be technically minded, with a strong problem-solving ability.
Experience with a variety of fabrication techniques and technologies, including traditional hand tools and modern digital fabrication equipment.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
Skilled in interpreting and working from technical drawings.
Strong technical skills in woodworking or other relevant crafts.
Be willing and able to take instruction from the company Directors, and Workshop Manager, but to also be proactive and self-motivated.
Possess deep enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for making furniture.
Have a desire to continually learn, improve and develop new skills, to be the very best you can be.

The role will cover the following responsibilities:

Interpret drawings.
General furniture making.
Assembly of complex items, involving multiple materials such as stones, glass, mirror.
Apply finishes, such as patinas, stains, varnishes, or lacquers to enhance the appearance of the furniture.
Utilise a variety of tools, equipment, and techniques to fabricate and construct objects or products according to design specifications. This may include woodworking, metalworking, or other skills.
Manage projects through to all stages of manufacturing, finishing, and packaging.
Maintain detailed documentation of project progress, including design iterations, materials used, fabrication processes. This documentation may be used for reference, replication, or future improvements.
Collaborate with designers to conceptualise and develop designs for physical objects or products. Use traditional sketching techniques to create detailed plans and prototypes.
