Senior Cardiac Physiologist (Cathlab & Pacing)

To participate in the provision of the technical invasive cardiology service and assist during the full range of cardiac procedures undertaken within the angiography suite. To undertake and teach diagnostic angiography, PCI, Pacing implant/follow-ups, remote monitoring service and non-invasive diagnostic tests at a high level.
To maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of all technical cardiac procedures (invasive and non-invasive - including pacing follow-ups, exercise testing, tilt testing, ambulatory monitoring, and ECGs). To assist with the efficient running of the technical service by prioritising the daily workload where appropriate.
To effectively, promptly, and professionally respond to emergency situations maintaining control and requesting assistance as necessary. To be responsible for identifying equipment faults, and directly resolve fault issues by reporting them in a timely manner.
To provide first line interpretation and full technical reports of individual tests performed whilst reviewing/assisting with the reporting of studies performed by junior staff members. To remain up to date with latest trends in clinical physiology translating these into practice and transferring this knowledge to staff within ones area of responsibility.
To assist with research studies as required. To ensure all patients receive appropriate and individualised care. To undertake service provision and/or training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, as required. To participate in the 24/7 on-call service provided by the Clinical Physiology department, as required and on a rotational basis.
Managerial: To ensure that all data entered on the invasive database is timely and accurate and that statistical records and audits are produced when required. To deputise for the Operations Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist and/ or Chief Cardiac Physiologists when necessary for management of an area within the department.
To be responsible for the management/appraisals of junior cardiac physiologists To assist with the recruitment and retention of staff within the Clinical Measurements Department To assist with all aspects of the organisation and performance of the invasive and non-invasive service when requested/required.
To work with the Operations Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist to ensure procedures are in place to achieve Government targets in Cardiac Physiology services To assist in the development of protocols, guidelines, and policies within the department in order to achieve IQIPS accreditation.
To implement local policies and guidelines and ensure these are adhered to at all times and ensure these incorporate current professional recommendations and evidence based practice. To participate in the training and development of local competencies of junior staff within the department.
To work in accordance with standards set by the Society for Cardiological Sciences and Technology (SCST) and the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) To be familiar with the use of Cerner, PAS, PRISM and any other computerised systems integral to the running of the department.
Communication with senior staff regarding stock and/or equipment management; ensuring adequate stock control is maintained and that staff are aware of economical use of supplies To review and prioritise inpatient requests for cardiac investigations, liaising with ward/medical staff to ensure availability of staff and resources.
To manage own time to achieve a balance between clinical and administrative duties. To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the Operations Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist or his deputies. Personnel: To conduct self in a professional manner and act as a role model to junior staff at all times.
To undertake service provision and/or training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, as required. To demonstrate leadership, achieving good morale with open communication between all levels of staff and disciplines. Contribute to and actively participate in the correct reporting and handling of incidents and accidents.
Educational: To actively participate and commit to maintaining own personal professional development, identifying educational and clinical training needs in conjunction with the Manager. To maintain professional accreditation through appropriate Continuous Professional and Personal Development.
To ensure that own mandatory training is up to date. To actively maintain a progressive learning environment for all grades/disciplines of staff. Administration: To register patient attendances on the departments PRISM database To book appointments onto Cerner / PRISM, facilitating patient choice To carry out general clerical duties to include photocopying, filing, and faxing.
To be familiar with PAS to track patient progression, case notes, and patient demographic and episode details. To order portering services on the Cerner / Patient Administration System (PAS) to facilitate movement of patients and/or equipment.
To collect, collate, and disseminate results to requesting doctors, secretaries, clinics, wards, and other hospitals. To communicate efficiently on the telephone with all staff, patients, and visitors To maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the department.
To be cost-effective in the use of equipment and resources. To telephone patients who fail to attend for their appointment, rebooking patients as per patient choice, and to telephone outstanding returns of ambulatory monitors. To undertake any other reasonable duties at the discretion of the Operations Manager & Principal Cardiac Physiologist or his deputies.
To conduct self in a professional manner and act as a role model to junior staff/students at all times. To undertake training in other areas of Clinical Physiology, as required. To amend patient bookings to reflect any changes in their procedure from that initially booked onto the database.
To support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
