Occupational Therapist Acute Medicine

Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn | King's Lynn | findajob.dwp.gov.uk |
A Vacancy at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist wishing to take their next steps on the career ladder and looking for a new challenge.

You need to be proactive and enthusiastic and will be joining our friendly Acute Medical Team here at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. You will be working alongside the band 7 Complex Rehabilitation Physiotherapist and also have support from senior OT’s.

You should have acute hospital experience and a strong interest in Complex Rehabilitation. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of patients who will present with many complex needs throughout their acute hospital stay.

As a member of both the integrated rehabilitation service and the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, excellent skills in communication are essential.

You will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your role will include providing an active contribution to patient flow/SAFER, expediting safe and effective discharges utilising community services to maximum benefit for all.

As a Band 6 therapist you will be supporting and developing rotational Band 5 therapists. The role also involves supervising unregistered staff and educating students on placement.

There will be opportunities for innovation and an expectation that you will be actively involved in relevant quality improvement projects to develop the Acute Medicine team and Rehabilitation across the wider hospital.

Our friendly Rehabilitation Service offers support through regular supervision, appraisal, training and development opportunities.

You will be expected to contribute to the weekend rota.

There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We’re working on a once in a generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital to open in 2030 and we are also carrying out on one of the biggest pieces of digital transformation work we’ve ever undertaken.

Our new electronic patient record (EPR) will replace paper-based patient records from 2026 and will lead to better, safer, joined-up care at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and beyond.

At The QEH we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs.

We are an ambitious organisation that upholds our values of kindness, wellness and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, recently demonstrated in our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating our services as ‘Good’, and we are proud to be a place to learn and grow through recognised learning and apprenticeships.

We recognise and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, priding ourselves on a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. We have approx. 530 beds across 33 wards and have newly built education and training facilities, a range of modern award-winning centres alongside a talented team of people ready to give you a warm welcome.
We love working here and think you will too.
