REPORTS TO Managing Director

OVERVIEW

We’re looking for an Estimator to join our landscape company.

Specifically, we’re looking for someone who has experience in the landscape, construction or quantity surveying industries and is well versed in providing detailed estimates for client projects. Most importantly, you’ll have strong communication skills as you’ll coordinate closely with both the clients and your colleagues in construction and design.

You’ll be working with high net-worth individuals and corporate clients across a diverse mix of projects in both the commercial and residential sectors. For an ambitious and dedicated Estimator, this is an exciting career opportunity to develop personally and work with the best in the business in a progressive and award-winning company.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
 •  You’ll prepare cost budgets and estimates for new projects and tenders.
 •  You’ll update existing tenders – making amendments, creating new estimates and maintaining communication with the clients and contract managers when needed.
 •  You’ll create detailed and well-written proposals for clients, which adhere to guidelines whilst offering competitive and comprehensive cost estimates.
 •  You’ll gather first-hand information from sites and suppliers.
 •  You’ll research labour costs, materials and production times.
 •  You’ll keep detailed records of all documentation, including site assessments and contract terms – and keep these updated accordingly.
 •  You’ll build relationships with clients, seeking out new opportunities for the business and creating relationships with new clients.
 •  You’ll work collaboratively with construction managers and the design team to help with development, innovation and creativity on client projects.
 •  On award of contracts you will take the project to pre-construction stage, again working closely with construction managers and design team.
 •  You’ll submit reports and liaise with other teams in the company to help with business development and profitability.
 •  You’ll ensure that client satisfaction is at the heart of your role – regularly checking in with clients to maintain a high level of satisfaction throughout the process.

PLUS
 •  You’ll arrive promptly for work and keep any appointments you make.
 •  You’ll join in with our company events and socials where possible, helping to build relationships with team members.
 •  You’ll uphold our company values, outlined in our employee handbook.
 •  You’ll have some flexibility for working from home for periods of the week.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
 •  You’ll have hands-on experience with hard and soft landscape construction.
 •  You’ll have at least 2 years of experience in estimating or quantity surveying in either a commercial landscape; a residential design and build landscape; or working for a close competitor.
 •  You’ll have an excellent understanding of finance and management.
 •  You’ll have strong communication skills to deal with clients and approach them with a sales-based attitude.
 •  You’ll have commercial experience in dealing with legal contracts and main contractors, as well as valuations, variations and insurances.
 •  You’ll be educated to Degree / OND / HND or similar in construction, quantity surveying, landscape construction, or horticulture
