We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to work for our client, a leading Construction Consultancy who specialise in providing comprehensive Cost and Project Management consultancy services across various sectors. As part of their Infrastructure Division, they have recently secured a significant framework with a Utilities company to deliver Project Management services for the AMP 8 Water Better Rivers Programme in the North West of England.
The Senior Project Manager has the role which is principally that of monitoring the performance of the main contractor and progress of the project. The Senior Project Manager will be accountable for the management of the project during the implementation and handover phases of a project.
In the earlier stages of the project lifecycle, the Senior Project Manager supports the Supply Chain Manager and Project Engineering Manager.
The Senior Project Manager will be the interface between the contractor delivering a batch of projects and the Company, and will be required to manage internal and external stakeholders in the resolution of issues affecting progress.
The Senior Project Manager will be the named Project Manager within the NEC3 Contract, and as such will have the contractual powers under the contract.
Key Dimensions:
Direct Reports will comprise Construction Supervisors, indirect reports will comprise :
• Asset Integration Engineers,
• Project Controllers and
• Quantity Surveyors (4-10 depending on size and complexity or projects)
• Typically £15M - £30M turnover / annum
• Individual Project values will range from between £2M - £30M
• Number of concurrent projects will typically range from 1 – 6 depending on size and will typically be complex projects.
Key responsibility and qualifications
• Degree level and ideally professionally qualified (e.g. CEng, MICE, MCIOB, RPP etc).
• MAPM 5 day certificate
• Track record of delivery of project portfolios
• Solid commercial, financial and analytical skills
• Significant Leadership and people management skills and an ability to build, recruit and develop high performing teams
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to be able to respond rapidly to unexpected events, having the ability to develop creative solutions to problems
• Delivery of key targets and objectives within the limits of available resources
• Proven track record of managing different contractual arrangements, competitive tender/partnering/frameworks
