As a Surveyor, your role will involve supporting Senior Surveyors and Project Managers to conduct surveys in a variety of different environments. You should have the ability to plan and execute small to medium sized jobs, manage time scales, be able to adapt and problem solve, and know when to recognise and escalate problems up to senior team members.
You must have good communication skills to enable you to brief your team members on site, and speak with clients where required. The types of survey tasks you will carry out include topographic, utility, laser scanning and office data processing.
The sectors in which we specialise are rail and guided transport, highways and bridges, aviation and airside, estates and property, energy and utilities and environmental and marine.
Flexibility in working hours, the willingness to travel and to work outside in adverse weather conditions are all essential requirements of this role. This role will consist of 75% on site and 25% in the office.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for undertaking utility and topographical surveys, manhole lifting and assisting with the observations and measurements
Locating utilities via electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar
Total station and GPS/GNSS observations
Working with the latest technology – Stream UP
Create Utility Survey drawings and Reports
Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties that may arise, mentoring and training less experienced team members as and when required
Management and maintenance of survey equipment
Production of CAD Drawings from survey data and post processing of GPR Data in GREDHD and IQ Maps
Assistance in the overall development of the survey department and adherence to company manuals and processes
Ensure QA/QC Compliance
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Previous experience working as a Surveyor (minimum 5 years)
Experience carrying out topographical surveys and of using Robotic Total Stations & GNSS
Use of GPR and Electromagnetic Locating techniques
A suitable qualification in a surveying related discipline advantageous
Experience using CAD software
Understanding of PAS128 Standards
A good team player with excellent communications skills, a desire to learn on the job and a can-do attitude
Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
