Academics are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a wonderful sepcial needs school in Islington. As a Teaching Assistant with a focus on supporting children with autism, you will play a crucial role in providing individualized care and support to our students.
Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support to students with autism, helping them to engage in learning activities and develop essential skills.
Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies tailored to the needs of each student.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of students with autism.
Support students with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene, as required.
Assist with the implementation of sensory integration techniques and other therapeutic interventions to support students' sensory needs.
Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior specialists, to ensure coordinated support for students with autism.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers about their child's development.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field is highly desirable.
Previous experience working with individuals with autism or other special educational needs is preferred.
A genuine passion for supporting children with autism and a commitment to their holistic development.
Willingness to assist with personal care tasks, including toileting and feeding.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with children with diverse needs.
Ability to adapt to the changing needs of students and respond effectively to challenging behaviors.Benefits:
