Within the Christchurch & Southbourne Community Mental Health Team, 1 position has arisen for a 12 month Fixed-term (Setember 2024 - September 2025) Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse working on a full time basis (37.5hrs per week).

Band 6 Salary:£35,392- £42,618 pa.

The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated team made up of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, Social Workers, Support Time Recovery Workers, Employment Specialists, Physical Health Support Workers & Administration.

This is primarily an assessment & triage duty worker role, where you will be responsible for the assssment of patients newly referred into the service while also supporting patients currently accessing the service who call to speak to duty.

As a key member of the team, you will find the experience challenging, but rewarding and varied within the well-established and supportive team, where we have strong values about working in a patient centred manner, where their recovery and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.
You can expect close working peer support and regular supervision to enable you to feel safe in your practice whilst further developing your skills.

You will be a committed, dynamic, motivated professional with excellent communication, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your work. You should have recent experience of working in a mental health environment and be able to apply the philosophies of engagement and recovery in your work with service users.

To provide a comprehensive accessible and responsive mental health service to Adults and their families within a defined locality.

To support the team and locality leader in implementation of the Dorset Healthcare Mental Health Strategy.

To continually develop clinical, team and service evaluation and delivery of service.

To contribute to effective multi-disciplinary working within the community mental health service and to build up effective liaison with community, primary, and other secondary and tertiary services/agencies within the locality to provide holistic care based on the individual’s need and service development.

The team is based close to Christchurch Hospital and BCP Council Locality Office in the BH23 region; the post holder will need to have the ability to travel by car, with business insurance, as they will be required to assess and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community or inpatient settings.
