A motivated Finance Assistant Apprentice is needed to join the team at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust on a full-time basis.
Starting on 1st September 2024, this is an 18-month contract requiring selected candidates to work 37.5 hours per week.
Working as part of the Finance Team, they are offering a role that will link the opportunity to gain valuable NHS experience and knowledge, with working towards the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard, alongside a nationally recognised qualification (AAT).
Full training on finance systems will be provided, and you will be supported by a dedicated Finance Manager throughout your Apprenticeship.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for six finance assistant apprentices to join their friendly and supportive teams within NHS organisations across the East of England.
There will also be the opportunity to apply for appropriate positions within the organisation and wider NHS on completion of the apprenticeship.
You must be over 16 and have lived in the UK/EU for the last 3 years. They are inviting applications from candidates with 5 GCSEs grade 5-9 (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
Key Responsibilities:
• Recording and analysing financial information using spreadsheets and financial systems to ensure resources are spent effectively
• Posting accounting journals to reflect the financial position of differing parts of the organisation
• Working as part of a team to support the delivery of draft accounts for review each month
• Liaise, when required, with designated budget holders such as managers and clinical staff
• Monitor cost improvement schemes as guided by the line manager
• Support the interpretation and analysis of a wide range of data in order to provide meaningful management information to budget holders
• Assist in responding to queries in a timely manner
• With the supervision of the line manager, undertake month-end tasks and prioritise own workload to ensure maximum accuracy of reporting within the available time-scale
• Work towards and successfully achieve the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification within 18 months, in conjunction with gaining practical experience in NHS finance
• Liaise with Training Manager to ensure all elements of the apprentice programme are achieved during the required time period
• Attend all training programmes as directed by the AAT programme lead to ensure compliance with the qualification
• Take an active interest in further career and personal development
• Appraisal and personal development programmes
• Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
• Health and Safety training, e.g. fire safety and infection control
• Understanding and adhering to organisational values and behaviours
Required Skills:
• Desire to work in the NHS in the East of England area
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Good time management with the ability to prioritise own work to achieve deadlines
• Ability to plan and organise for both work and study
• Be confident with a positive outlook and display a 'can do' attitude
• Hardworking with the ability to follow instructions and ask for help when necessary
• Able to work well as part of a team
• Basic use of spreadsheets and Microsoft Office packages
Required Experience:
• 5 GCSE's including Maths and English minimum grade 5 including Maths and English
• You will have excellent keyboard and computer skills, good written, verbal and interpersonal skills, with ideally having gained experience within in a busy office, customer-based environment or volunteer role
