Investment in a Coventry and Warwickshire wide Children’s Bladder and Bowel Service has created exciting opportunities within the Children’s Bladder and Bowel Team.

This exciting post will be working as part of a team delivering a high standard of care within a specialist Bladder and Bowel Team, to children and young people including those who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex health needs.

You will work in collaboration with Community Children’s Nursing Team, Special School Nursing and Universal Services including Health Visiting, School Nursing, Education, Acute Services, Social Care and Allied Health Professionals.

You will use local and national guidelines for continence to perform continence reassessments for CYP with bladder and/or bowel symptoms in a range of school, community, and clinic settings. You will be responsible for implementing planned care where direct supervision may not be immediately available.

There is one vacancy. Flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Following training, the post holder will provide direct care to specific children/young people, integrating with parents and carers and other team members, following a plan of care as directed by a registered nurse.

Contribute to a high quality of care in the service and work towards a warm supportive atmosphere in which the post holder can establish friendly and caring relationships with children and their families.

To include supporting children and their families in managing treatment for daytime and night-time wetting, constipation and soiling and delayed toilet training.

NNEB/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a child related subject

Good level of basic education and literacy.

Be willing to undertake significant competency-based training.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrates an awareness of the need for knowledge of Health & Safety principles.

Willingness to work within a Health Care and Education environment with complex care needs children.

Previous experience working with children.

Able to work with minimal supervision in multi – disciplinary teams once competencies are achieved.

Car owner / driver, or suitable alternative transport to enable you to undertake the job, insured for business use.
