In this high-impact role, you will:

  1.  Develop Strategic Vision: Craft and implement a comprehensive governance strategy, aligning it with national and local healthcare priorities.
  2.  Drive Operational Excellence: Lead the development and implementation of effective governance frameworks to ensure efficient and high-quality operations across the Trust.
  3.  Champion Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organisation, promoting best practices and innovation across all departments.
  4.  Empower Leadership: Empower and support department leads by providing them with the resources and knowledge necessary to achieve their goals.
  5.  Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise data analysis to identify areas for improvement in operational efficiency and develop evidence-based solutions.
  6.  Stakeholder Engagement:Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Trust, including executives, department heads, and external partner.

There has never been a more exciting time to join West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust! Major redevelopment works are planned as part of the New Hospital Programme. These will be most dramatic at Watford General Hospital where up to 90% of buildings will be new.

Working with the Chief Nurse and Chief Medical Officer to deliver a robust and evolving quality assurance framework and governance structure to ensure accountability and transparency and where quality assurance is integrated alongside quality improvements.

The key areas of work include but are not limited to reduction of clinical and non-clinical risk, ensuring robust incident investigations and that processes are in place for acting on recommendations and learning from such, provision of legal services and ensuring effective oversight of the ward to Board quality governance.

The post holder will ensure that there is a robust quality assurance framework and governance structure and its associated accountability framework.

Qualifications:

  1.  Band 8D and above Registered Nurse (or equivalent Allied Health Professional) qualification (or demonstrably equivalent experience).
  2.  Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within healthcare governance.
  3.  Proven strategic thinking and leadership skills.
  4.  In-depth knowledge of healthcare management principles.
  5.  Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
