Family Support Worker
Job Description
London Borough of Redbridge are currently seeking a motivated and innovative Family Support Worker to be part of a team delivering early intervention and family support across the borough. As a Family Support Worker, you will be working with different partner agencies, children and families from different and diverse backgrounds.
Your role will involve providing a range of support in the home to a diverse community. You will need to understand safeguarding and be able to work with mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic violence, learning disabilities and other factors that could impede effective parenting.
The aim is to improve outcomes for children within the family environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver early intervention and family support services
Work with different partner agencies, children and families from different and diverse backgrounds
Provide a range of support in the home to a diverse community
Understand safeguarding and be able to work with mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic violence, learning disabilities and other factors that could impede effective parenting
Improve outcomes for children within the family environment
Requirements
Experience of child development and family support
Ability to write reports
Motivated and innovative
Willingness to work with different partner agencies, children and families from different and diverse backgrounds
Understanding of safeguarding and ability to work with mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic violence, learning disabilities and other factors that could impede effective parenting
Qualifications
Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent
Knowledge of child development and parenting
Understanding of safeguarding
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
