Work Pattern: To be agreed at interview but can be flexible after school or occasional weekend.

Job Description:
A young lady with Autism, is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them with their care needs. Experience of working with people with challenging behaviour and Autism essential.
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently.
The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client. They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.
They will be with another support worker the majority of the time so team working skills would be great.

The main duties to be included within this role are:
 •  Providing for the personal care needs of the employer, such as making meals, washing and helping with toileting (when needed).
 •  Support and encourage this young lady to participate in and try new, fun and interesting activities to improve her confidence and abilities. She loves visiting parks and the beaches. High energy and fun levels needed!
 •  Support with after school activities including walks, going to the park and possibly other outdoor activities.
 •  Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
 •  Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
 •  Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
 •  To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction, reading and crafts.
 •  Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
 •  To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
 •  Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
 •  Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.

The client is looking for a personal assistant that fits the following person specification:
 •  Caring and patient
 •  High energy and fun
 •  Responsible and honest
 •  Proactive and self-motivated
 •  Has good local knowledge
 •  Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties
 •  Good communicator
 •  Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship

Other Requirements: A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required.

You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.

Benefits:
