ADHD Teaching Assistant
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in empowering a Year Four student with ADHD to thrive in the classroom. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• 1-2-1 Support: Provide personalised support to the student, helping them navigate their learning journey and manage their ADHD-related challenges effectively.
• Learning Support: Collaborate closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons and materials to suit the individual needs and learning style of the student.
• Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to support the student's behavioural and emotional well-being, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Progress Tracking: Maintain comprehensive records of the student's progress and work closely with the school's SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and parents to communicate progress and make necessary adjustments.
• Inclusion: Foster a sense of belonging for the student within the classroom, promoting an environment where they can learn and grow alongside their peers.
Qualities We Look For in a Candidate:
• Empathy: A deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by children with ADHD and a patient, empathetic approach to their support.
• Adaptability: The ability to adapt teaching techniques and strategies to suit the student's specific needs and promote their success.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the class teacher, parents, SENCO, and other staff members.
• Positive Reinforcement: A talent for using positive reinforcement and behaviour management techniques to encourage positive behaviours and self-regulation
• Experience: Previous experience working with children with ADHD or relevant qualifications in education and child development is advantageous.
