Band 7 (1.00 WTE) Contract - Permanent
Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Although a small team, we work under a service level agreement with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust and benefit from the support and learning opportunities that larger teams can provide.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self -motivated dietitian to join our small, friendly team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. The hospital, which is a teaching hospital, is the largest specialist provider of health services for women and babies in Europe.
The post will involve working alongside an experienced band Macmillan 7 specialist oncology dietitian (working 0.4 WTE). The team includes dietitians working in Women’s Health, who provide an inpatient service to the maternity and gynaecology ward and out-patient diabetes medical disorders clinics and a dietetic assistant.
This is an exciting time as the service is undergoing a restructure and there are plans for a phased development of the service following the appointment of a new dietetics manager.
The post benefits from being part of Macmillan, who support and provide an extensive programme of professional learning, personal and service development opportunities, education and wellbeing grants, Macmillan’s employee assistance programme and access to Macmillan’s direct services including telephone, online and in-person information and support.
We are looking for a dietitian with excellent clinical and communication skills, experience of working in oncology in the NHS and of working with patients with complex needs. The role will involve working within a well -established MDT gynaecological oncology service, working closely with the clinical nurse specialists to provide a service to the wards and MDT out- patient clinic.
The post holder will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team to provide a highly specialised service to patients with complex clinical needs, including palliative care patients and those with gastro problems such as stomas.
The postholder will need to accurately assess holistic client needs using specialist knowledge and a broad range of nutritional assessment skills, measurements and techniques.
The post holder will contribute to patient centred service improvements, training, development of protocols, policies, resources, standards and audit and other work to support the clinical nutrition team. The post is also expected to include student training and health promotion.
With the creation of new services and expansion of the team, there will be opportunities to take an active role in service development initiatives. We hope to further develop work in pre-habilitation and living beyond cancer programmes. You will be supported with your personal development goals and have regular clinical supervision and peer support.
