ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
BRISTOL - Hybrid
SALARY - Up to £45,000 pa + excellent benefits

​​Due to their continued growth and expanding portfolio, they are looking to add an Architectural Technologist / Senior Architectural Technologist to their existing team. The role will be based from either their Bristol city centre office, but they also encourage hybrid working with a combination of office and home based working to ensure a good work / life balance.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with a broad range of schemes across the Southwest region including several exciting projects in higher education, custodial and commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Support and mentor junior staff, including Apprentices and Part I / Part II Students.

Take receipt of a brief and develop it into a design without intervention

Contribute to and help co-ordinate the development of Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and AHR's Deliverables and DRM
Achieve efficient and effective construction detailing using robust and sustainable design solutions.
Prepare compliant designs by following UK Construction Law, British Standards and relevant CoPs.
Choose or advise on material selection. Respect the limited availability of natural resources when making design decisions. Take into account design life and durability.
Author bespoke specifications in NBS Chorus. Evidence supporting technical data in project folders.
Assist the Project Team with designing to a budget. On instruction, assist with value-engineering.
Participate in project reviews and coordination workshops.
Assist in gathering and preparing information required to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations and Building Safety Gateways.
Negotiate with statutory bodies, write reports and complete statutory submissions (planning Applications / Gateway Submissions / Building Regulations etc).

About you

Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:

BSc or HND qualified in relevant subject, with no less than 5 years post qualification experience
CIAT registered would be preferred or working towards

Able to competently use 3D Autodesk Revit and 3D rendering packages, 2D AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
Sound drawing and detailed design skills. Able to prepare working drawings, schedules and specifications.
Experience in leading the delivery of production packages.
Proficient in Revit with at least three years’ continual use in practice as the primary design/ delivery tool.
Good knowledge of UK Construction and Building Law.
