About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Health Screening Nurse

The role is permanent, and site based located in the Derbyshire area.

To provide an occupational health and wellbeing screening service, offering advice, guidance and support to our in-house client.
 •  Set up clinics to be able to undertake validate/calibrate and maintain the equipment following any cleaning regimes.
 •  Order and maintain the stock levels of clinical supplies/consumables and safely store and administer vaccines that are required for operational purposes.
 •  Undertake pre-placement health assessments required for specific roles, undertake health surveillance tests including spirometry and audiometry as required and undertake fitness for task medical assessments.

 •  Offer appropriate management/advice following needle stick/human bite injuries. Obtain venous blood samples.
 •  Deliver efficient health and wellbeing assessments and produce health promotion materials (paper and electronic).
 •  Provide professional and appropriate health advice.
 •  Work with minimal supervision, using training and professional judgement to interpret results seeking advice when required.
 •  Ensure that a confidential system of employee records is maintained.
 •  Assist other clinicians within the Occupational Health and Wellbeing department as required and directed.
 •  Undertake such other duties commensurate with the post as may be required for the safe and effective performance of the job.
 •  Ability to travel on an individual basis with equipment within the Derbyshire County.

Essential:

 •  RGN Level 1 (or equivalent) on the Nursing Midwifery Council Register.
 •  Demonstrate sound knowledge of health surveillance and fitness for work assessments. Particularly regarding venepuncture, audiometry and spirometry.
 •  Experience in vaccination storage and administration, anaphylaxis, and basic life support.
 •  Demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, whilst maintaining good working relationships with a diverse range of people.
 •  Able to make and justify routine decisions using initiative and judgement through the analysis of medical information and testing data with minimal supervision and know when to escalate for support
 •  Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in their work.
 •  Demonstrate personal awareness of diversity issues and encourage an inclusive environment of equal opportunity and openness.
 •  Possess excellent IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office 365 products, databases and Occupational Health software packages, data analysis and reporting.
 •  Demonstrate an understanding of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), Data Protection Act and all legislation in relation to medical confidentiality including storage, access and transfer of medical records and medical consent
