Senior Consultant - Offshore Renewables (Glasgow)

Frazer-Nash Consultancy | Glasgow | Full-time | apply.workable.com |
Job Title: Senior Consultant - Offshore Renewables
Salary range: £60,000 to £70,000 per annum
Location: Glasgow, Bristol or Leatherhead
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Closing date for this role is 18th May but we would encourage early applications

We are currently seeking talented individuals who have practical offshore experience supporting renewable energy or oil & gas projects, who may be looking for a new challenge where they can support the development and operation of the next generation of offshore renewable energy projects.

The role would be largely office-based, providing consultancy support to a range of customers and projects, from early phase engineering through to construction and operations.

Engineering consultancy can be varied and unpredictable, comprising both short technical projects and lengthy assignments supporting a single client, and your ability to multi-task and collaborate with others will be essential.

The successful candidate will provide practical context to complement our recognised capabilities in physics and numerical modelling. You will have experience of solving problems and implementing solutions in a real-world environment. We want to harness that experience such that appropriate solutions or mitigations can be implemented in advance of problems being encountered offshore.

As the industry expands to meet the growing demand for decarbonised, cheap and reliable energy, we are seeking a motivated and experienced consultant to help us deliver on our extensive portfolio of offshore energy projects, and to further develop our services within the sector.

Offshore wind is a core focus area, and we have a track record of providing support to both fixed and floating offshore wind projects, but your offshore project experience will also be valuable for supporting other broader engineering requirements.

We are approached by various clients, including developers, operators, turbine and foundation OEMs, and industry bodies, to assist in solving their problems across the offshore sector, and we are expanding our skill base further to better support these needs.
We support these clients with projects ranging in timeline from the early phases of technical evaluation and concept selection, through to design specification, construction, commissioning, and operations.

This role provides an opportunity to combine project management and engineering skills while contributing to the development and optimisation of new clean energy solutions in the offshore environment. The successful candidate will be flexible in both supporting and leading services to clients and collaborating with colleagues from across the company to deliver success.
Your experience will be valuable as we mentor our developing engineers.

As a senior consultant, you will also play an important role in supporting the development of our renewables business, including identification of business opportunities, growth of our industry network and helping to define an expanded suite of services to our customers.

Frazer-Nash strives to be a friendly and caring engineering consultancy, working across many industry sectors and client types. At Frazer-Nash, we want all our people to feel they belong, confident in the knowledge that we value and respect the commitment they have made by entrusting their careers and expertise to us.

Our people join us to make an impact on the world and to learn from some of the best minds in the industry. Our people stay with us because they value our supportive team environment, the variety of work, and the career opportunities provided by our sustained growth.

Requirements

The successful applicant will have:

 •  Demonstrable experience in the offshore energy industry through work with developers, OEMs and/or consultancies. Ideally this would include work in offshore wind, or other offshore renewable energy systems.
 •  On-site or operational experience within the offshore industry.
 •  Experience of delivering systems to meet defined specifications.
 •  Experience of supporting the safe and efficient operation of offshore energy systems.
 •  A degree in Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related discipline.
 •  The ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
 •  Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
 •  Self-motivation and organisation skills to deliver independently and manage project work to quality, time and cost.

It is to your advantage if you meet any or all of the following additional requirements:

 •  Working knowledge of developments in floating wind technologies and the offshore wind market generally.
 •  Experience of supporting concept selection in the offshore industry, including appraisal of technical, safety, environmental and economic factors.
 •  Familiarity with numerical simulation and data analysis.
 •  Previous consultancy experience
 •  Experience in writing proposals, client liaison and developing new business.
 •  Chartered Engineer status.

Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
