FTE: 0.6 FTE (working 22.2 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH8 £44,263 pro rata pa to £56,021 pro rata pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 day pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our officer between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated clinician, committed to excellence in teaching and enhancing patient care, to join our multidisciplinary team of motivated and friendly staff in our Centre for Postgraduate Medicine and Public Health.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will undertake teaching, learning and assessment, including module leadership within our postgraduate medicine and public health range of modules, short courses and programmes. You will design engaging teaching activities which support student learning, set and mark formative and summative assessments which support student learning whilst providing constructive student feedback and evaluation.
You will act as a supervisor for the postgraduate programmes, commensurate with post holder’s qualifications. You will provide academic and pastoral support to students as a personal tutor. You will identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement and design, and develop new teaching materials.
You will contribute to the planning, design and development of aims, objectives and learning outcomes on appropriate programmes. Although the post is a teaching-focused position, maintenance of scholarly and/or research activity is strongly encouraged and supported.

Skills and experience required

You will need to have substantial proven postgraduate experience, experience of collaborative working in multidisciplinary settings such as community, hospital or primary care, and have experience of teaching at postgraduate level. You must possess breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop teaching, have an appreciation and understanding of the educational needs of students, an understanding of students’ prior learning experiences and how these might influence their current educational expectations, have cultural awareness, and have an ability to contribute to curriculum development.

A proven ability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a variety of audiences, proficiency in English Language, excellent written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills with ability to create excellent working relationships, and an ability to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues is essential for this role.
You will possess ability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities to meet deadlines, ability to work effectively on your own initiative and as part of a team, excellent organisational and planning skills, and have excellent IT skills.

You must be able to act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff, be flexible and adaptable to workload and team requirements, possess a commitment to reflective practice with evidence of Continuing Professional Development, and a commitment to issues related to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications required

In order to be considered for this position you must hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline and a postgraduate qualification i.e., Masters and/or PhD (completed or close to completion, e.g. has submitted final thesis) in in a relevant field or significant relevant experience.
You must be a member of the relevant UK regulatory/professional body including doctor, pharmacist, nurse or other allied healthcare professional
