We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Ward Clerk to provide efficient clerical support on Ward H4 at Salford Royal Hospital.

The post is26hoursper week, working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, although this could be flexible. Start/finish times are negotiable. The role will provide an exciting challenge to the successful candidate.

Ward Clerks provide administrative support and act as the unit receptionist to the ward. This includes answering telephone calls, updating confidential patient data, making follow up appointments, arranging hospital transport, liaising with medical secretaries, admitting and discharging patient on electronic systems, ordering and maintaining stationary stocks.

Your role will invole acting as Ward Receptionist and greeting patients and visitors, including those with communication difficulties, on arrival to the ward in accordance with Trust standards and expectations.

You will ensure that patients are shown to designated waiting areas and given information packs and/or leaflets where applicable.

You will receive messages in person, by telephone, e-mail or letter and respond appropriately and ensure that patients' notes and other documentation are prepared and managed confidentially.

You will take responsibility for accurate data entry and retrieval via computer, for e.g., patient center, case note tracking, and other systems, and ensure that discharged patient notes are returned promptly to appropriate secretaries or medical records department, including case note tracking.

You will arrange follow-up appointments if required, ensure that patient admission documentation is maintained appropriately and that a record is kept of clinical activity, as required and make surethat stationery/supplies are ordered as necessary.

You will make sure that patients' notes are made available prior to admission,that information is relayed appropriately to the multi-professional and/or multiagency teams to ensure the safe discharge and follow-up of patients and report/requisition broken or faulty equipment and furnishings within the ward/department.
