Scarborough | Permanent | £35,000 - £45,000/year | www.cv-library.co.uk |
Working for one of the UK's industry leaders in uninterruptible power supply (UPS), generators, backup batteries, and emergency power solutions.

As an Applications Engineer you will play a critical role in my client's technical sales process by providing expertise and support to customers. You will work closely with both the sales team and the engineering team to understand customer requirements and develop tailored solutions.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for customers.

Our client is not looking for people who sit down and say ‘That’ll do’, they are driven by doing the right thing for their customers. They work hard to deliver, and there’s a lot to do, but the ability to make an impact in their business is significant.
So, if that resonates with you and you want to love customers as they do then come join a team of like-minded people.

Your Responsibilities

Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs and develop technical solutions that meet those needs.

Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, including system design, cost estimations, and project timelines.

Conduct feasibility studies and perform technical analysis to evaluate the compatibility of products with customer requirements.

Provide technical support to customers during pre-sales and post-sales stages, including troubleshooting, resolving technical issues, and answering product-related questions.

Collaborate with the engineering team to identify opportunities for product improvement and development based on customer feedback and market trends.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to provide valuable insights and recommendations to customers.

Participate in trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote products and establish strong relationships with customers.

Continuously update and maintain technical documentation, product manuals, and training materials for internal and external use.

Act as a liaison between customers and the engineering team, providing input on product enhancements, customization requests, and bug reports.

Applications Engineer Required Skills

You will have strong technical knowledge of the UPS industry, including a deep understanding of products, systems, and applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically and analytically to identify and resolve technical issues.

Strong presentation skills to deliver product demonstrations and technical training to internal and external audiences.

Proficient in using software tools and applications, including CAD software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.

Strong project management skills to oversee the implementation of technical solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

What’s important:

 •  You’ll be passionate about customer service, providing the correct solution to the customer in the required timescales

Qualifications/Experience
 •  BSc, HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or suitable equivalent science or engineering qualifications, or experience in a similar tendering role for bespoke electrical equipment
