We have an incredibly exciting opportunity to recruit an additional unit manager to support the existing ward manager and matron to lead our gynaecology ward and gynae and early pregnancy assessment unit. outpatient service. This is new and additional funding to the service as there is a recognised need for additional leadership from another senior nurse to lead and manage our service improvement journey and leading our nursing team.

The department is made up of the Gynae ward, an 18 bedded unit, a day surgery area and the assessment unit comprising of a scan room, 3 assessment rooms, an ambulatory room and soon to be dedicated bereavement space.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and dynamic nurse looking for their next career progression. The unit manager will be responsible for building close working relationships with all members of the MDT in order to ensure a seamless patient experience whilst supporting the existing unit manager and Matron to lead the service to outstanding.

The Unit Manager has overall responsibility for the provision of excellent care with compassion for patients, relative and visitors who are cared for within the unit

To ensure the provision of excellent care with compassion the unit Manager is responsible for:
 •  ensuring that the nursing team and care support team within their ward or department are adequately resourced and organised.
 •  ensuring the nursing team and care support team are adequately supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassion in line with the Trust’s Values & Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework.
 •  leading and developing the department nursing team by being a visible and strong role model providing leadership and direction to the team,
 •  ensuring the productive operation of the unit through the monitoring and maintenance of standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment

You will be responsible for the highest standards in safety, quality and clinical governance, whilst delivering outstanding patient care. You will be required to bring the team together, motivate them and ensure the team work well together to provide a seamless service for patients attending for routine and emergency care.

The post holder is will be required to work across the MDT, leading and managing our nursing teams in collaboration with the existing post holder to maintain high standards of nursing care whilst maintaining the wellbeing of our nursing team.

You will join a team of other gynaecology department leaders, gynaecology specialist nurses, including our Macmillan cancer nurses, advanced clinical practitioner, nurse colposcopists and our endometriosis specialist nurse to make up the gynaecology speciality senior nursing team

 •  Leading and developing the unit nursing team and administration team by being a visible and strong role model providing leadership and direction to the team, capitalising on research and development opportunities, providing clinical supervision and advice for staff and students in order to support them in reaching their full potential
 •  Ensuring the productive operation of the unit/department through the monitoring and maintenance of standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment for patients and staff.
