We need a dedicated and dynamic individual to join a residential special school for children age 7 - 16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and who have had negative experiences in mainstream education.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in preparing learning materials and organising classroom activities.
• Provide hands-on support and supervision.
• Foster individual development and engagement with the world.
• Adapt to various classroom roles, indoors and outdoors, based on individual requirements.
• Lead activities, facilitate outdoor experiences, and ensure safety during exploratory outings.
• Assist the classroom teacher in running exciting lessons & maintaining a clean and safe classroom.
Requirements:
• Provide support and guidance, and enhance the quality of life for the child and family.
• Strong teamwork skills, coupled with the ability to share ideas and collaborate effectively.
• Passion for working with neurodiverse pupils, particularly those with SEMH.
• Reliable, persistent and loyal, with a good sense of humour and strength of character.
• A variety of interests outside the curriculum that would lend themselves to leading activities with children.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants are subject to a satisfactory enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and at least two independent references.
