World Leading Machine Manufacturing company, seeking a Mechanical biased Engineer to work alongside their Project / Purchasing Manager with the aim of taking on the managerial role at a future date. Their ideal candidate will have a recent mechanical engineering background and qualification with experience of 2D / 3D CAD and be looking for long term career progression.
Project / Purchasing Manager role:
The successful Project / Purchasing Manager will report to the Engineering Director and be responsible for the following:
• Supplier Liaison / Negotiations
• Project control and assembly of BOM tailored to customer requirements.
• Planning of work in line with delivery schedules
• Managing the Spares Sales orders / purchasing / Sub contract manufacturing, expediting, receipt / goods Inwards to Packaging, Despatch and all associated documentation including arranging shipping through Couriers / freight forwarders etc.
• Within this role there is a degree of being hands on.
• Interpret detailed Engineering drawings and to be able to discuss these and liaise with both Internal engineers in addition to our Subcontract manufacturing suppliers.
• Conduct Supplier Visits, mainly within the UK
• Close Liaison with Management accounts personnel including the formulation of monthly cost & stock reports, Invoices & general upkeep of our Internal MRP System
• Conducting customer visits and sales support to our international clients
• This is a Hands-on role and will require a great degree of flexibility, self-motivation
• Additional attributes: An understanding of CAD and MRP systems
• Hours of work: 7.30 to 1.0pm / 1.30 to 5.30pm Monday through to Thursday. Although the above hours are the official hours of the working week, additional hours will be required as and when the role requires, to fulfil the tasks at any such stage, although these are limited.
• Flexibility is a key attribute within this role as it is with all our personnel and the ability to fit in with our existing workforce is paramount to the success of the business.
Project / Purchasing Manager requirements:
• Having some exposure to Purchasing and Project Management (beneficial)
• Mechanical Engineering within a Machine build environment (beneficial)
• PC Literate to include the use of MS Excel and Word, in addition to use of MRP or similar systems.
• The ability to work with the Small Manufacturing team on all levels and preferably having trained through a mechanical apprenticeship.
• An understanding of Electrical / PLC components would be an additional benefit.
