Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Temporary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support KS1 and KS2 classes at a fantastic primary school in Derby (DE65). The role will be on a full-time basis for the whole academic year with a view to appoint as soon as possible.

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning within the school, working closely with teachers to provide high-quality education and care to students. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to promoting the holistic development of students.

Responsibilities:

 •  Support teaching and learning across various subjects and year groups, taking a proactive role in planning, and delivering lessons under the guidance of teachers.
 •  Assist with the planning and preparation of engaging and differentiated resources to meet the needs of individual students and small groups.
 •  Lead and facilitate small group activities, providing targeted support and intervention to address specific learning objectives or student needs.
 •  Implement behaviour management strategies and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters respect and engagement.
 •  Assess and record student progress, achievements, and areas for development, providing feedback to teachers, students, and parents/guardians as required.
 •  Collaborate with teachers to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and support students with special educational needs or specific learning difficulties.
 •  Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students, nurturing their well-being and promoting their social and emotional development.
 •  Promote independent learning and critical thinking skills among students, encouraging them to take ownership of their education.
 •  Foster positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues, maintaining effective communication and a collaborative approach.
 •  Keep abreast of educational developments, attending relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

 •  Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 4 or Level 5 Diploma in Education or equivalent, are essential.
 •  Previous experience working as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or in a similar role is highly valued.
 •  In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum and educational practices, with the ability to plan and deliver lessons independently.
 •  Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
 •  Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting and contributing to the overall development and success of the school.
 •  Understanding of strategies and interventions to support students with special educational needs or specific learning difficulties.
 •  Excellent organizational skills to manage resources, plan activities, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
 •  Flexibility and adaptability to work across various subjects and year groups as required.
 •  Successful completion of background checks and any other necessary screening required by the recruitment agency and the school.
