KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to the SMR Factories Design Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer- Factory Design and Equipment will work within the SMR Manufacturing Engineering team which is responsible for the design, development and delivery of manufacturing methods, capabilities and factory solutions to meet the SMR business needs.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced and well-motivated manufacturing engineer to join a team within a fledgling organisation setting up new manufacturing capability in the UK.

The Manufacturing Engineer – Factory Design & Equipment will not have any direct reports.
Initial focus will be on supporting the factory programmes covering the experimental facility, the modules factory and potential overseas deployments. As the programme matures, scope will broaden to cover site factory and other RR SMR owned facilities that may be required depending on customer requirements.
The ME team is currently 26 people but will be rapidly expanding as the programme approaches delivery phase.

Key Selection Criteria:

 •  Proven ability to create, optimise and validate the design and layout of operations workplaces, ranging from a single workstation to a complete facility in-line with business requirements
 •  The ability to identify, analyse and deliver optimised engineering solutions that address all critical success factors (e.g. health, safety & environment, quality, flexibility, delivery, cost and innovation) necessary to achieve safe and commercially viable manufacturing solutions.
 •  The ability to manage and deliver the technical, financial and commercial risks associated with bringing new equipment and technology into production, ensuring full benefits are realised.
 •  The ability to use computer technology to aid in the design, analysis, and manufacture of products. Favourable to have experience in:
o AutoCAD suite of products
o Siemens NX, line designer
o Process Simulate: Human

o Discrete Event Simulation Software (Siemens plant simulation)
 •  The ability to apply quality principles to the product/production to ensure it consistently meets all customer and business requirements

Pay and Benefits:

We anticipate paying a salary of between £40,000 and £52,000
 •  Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%
 •  Benefits Allowance – £2,200 enabling you to create a bespoke package
 •  Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
 •  Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
 •  Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
 •  Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
 •  £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
