Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with an independent civil and structural engineering consultancy working primarily in the nuclear sector to recruit a Principal Civil and Structural Engineer for its Whitehaven, Cumbria site.
The Principal Civil and Structural Engineer role comes with a salary up to £80,000, enhanced pension and flexible working.

Responsibilities and duties
As the Principal Civil and Structural Engineer you will:
Take the technical lead on detailed and construction design projects.
Review and approve works for clients such as calculations, specifications and basis of design.
Mentor and support other members of the team, developing their knowledge and skill.
Have experience using software such as STAAD or TEDDS for analysis and design purposes.
Complete Structural assessments of existing structures including concrete and steel.
Any other duties as required.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A degree level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
Chartership or working towards would be advantageous.
At least 10 years in engineering design within a highly regulated environment
Personal skills
The Principal Civil and Structural Engineer role would suit someone who is:
Able to lead others, resolve issues and effectively deliver project requirements.
Capable of working to timeline and delivery of high-quality technical standards
Able to mentor and support others in their development.
Organised and thorough with their approach to work
