Mechanical Design Engineer (Sheet Metal) – Kidderminster
Kidderminster | Permanent | £32,000 - £42,000/year | www.cv-library.co.uk |
Are you an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanical Design Engineer looking for an exciting new opportunity? Look no further! We are working with a High Precision sheet metal company that specializes in composites and flexible materials and is expanding their team.
As their new Mechanical Design Engineer, you will have the chance to work with a wide range of industries, including machine tools, nuclear, medical devices, and material handling. You will be responsible for evaluating customer requirements, delivering designs for manufacture, and ensuring that they meet the customer’s specifications.
In addition, you will be a consultative engineer, offering solutions to problems, alternative design ideas, and recommendations.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a solid understanding of welding principles, geometric tolerance, and the ability to create detailed drawings for manufacture and assembly. You will also be responsible for determining product BOM and maintaining it within the company’s ERP system while liaising with purchasing.
As part of your role, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager in steel, factored, and flex products to ensure that your designs are within project timeframes and meet all legislative guidelines around health and safety and the environment.
Additionally, you will provide hands-on support and guidance during the introduction of both new and current products in manufacturing.
To be considered for this role, you must have a degree in an engineering-related discipline or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering. You should also have a good understanding of Lean manufacturing, product costing knowledge, and experience working in an SME.
Furthermore, experience using Solid Works, Sheet Metal Design, and PDM is essential. Knowledge of LVD and Amada Press brake software is also great but desirable.
If you have excellent problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills and the ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the business, we want to hear from you. In return, we offer a competitive salary, as well as the opportunity to maintain and improve departmental procedures and processes as required.
