285 - Head of Reducing Reoffending Analysis - Deputy Director

The Data and Analysis Directorate plays a key role in ensuring that the decisions taken in the MoJ – by Ministers, Operational and Policy Leaders and those on the front-line - are informed by first-class evidence, analysis and use of data.

The reducing reoffending analysis team own the analytical relationship on reoffending issues with policy and operational partners, including Youth Justice and Offender Policy, Prison Policy and HMPPS. They provide critical input to policy development and delivery by applying robust evidence, delivering impactful insight and taking opportunities to innovate.

This is a pivotal role in our ability to deliver the government’s ambition to reduce reoffending – one the three priority outcomes from the MoJ.

Responsibilities

As Head of Reducing Reoffending Analysis, you will:

Play a pivotal role across the department in delivering the cross- government priority to reduce crime through reducing reoffending.
Lead a large multi-disciplinary analytical team to increase understanding of a complex area and deliver impactful analysis which shapes the department’s delivery of its priority outcome to reduce reoffending – including through prison education, offender health, youth justice, accommodation and employment.

Work closely with Ministers and senior policy and operational colleagues to shape the formulation of new policy interventions and improve operational delivery in an objective and evidence-based manner – using analysis to make informed decision-making and produce better outcomes.

Work hand in hand with senior policy and operational stakeholders within MoJ and across government to ensure that the work of the team is aligned with both short and longer-term priorities.
Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary team of 60 people, ensuring that the team is engaged and building the evidence to inform and impact, with a strong emphasis on building on our collaborative and inclusive culture.
Provide leadership, professional oversight and line management to the team, ensuring analytical standards are high, strengthening the capacity and skills of staff and driving innovation in our use of data and analysis to support this key departmental priority.

Alongside the rest of the Data & Analysis leadership team take collective ownership of leading the data and analytical community and playing an active part in the senior team to develop a strong, diverse and inclusive community.
