Sister - Ward C14B | East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust | Blackburn | findajob.dwp.gov.uk |
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic nurse to join our team on a 17 bedded surgical ward as a Band 6 temporary post to cover maternity leave. The post is a permanent contract working 30 hours per week, rotational days, nights and weekends.

The ward cares for patients with a variety of general surgical conditions, primarily HPB and colorectal, who are admitted as emergency patients, the majority of whom require surgical interventions. Experience of general surgical conditions, pre and post operative care, complex nutritional and pain management systems such as TPN, NG/NJ feeds, epidural and PCA's, rectus sheath infusions are required.
You will be required to act as co-ordinator on the ward, supervising junior staff, assisting with ward rounds, carrying out patient care as well as more managerial duties such as audits, appraisals, training and managing roster changes.

At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care. We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area.
We employ over 8,000 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

The role requires working 12 hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends. You will be familiar with the role and its requirements, deputising for the ward manager in her absence and supporting and developing skills and knowledge of junior staff.
You must be motivated and enthusiastic, able to adapt quickly to changing needs of patients and the ward, be flexible and hard-working, working autonomously as well as part of the team. If you think you would like the challenge and career development a Band 6 can offer then please apply.
