Design Manager

Location: Exeter (South West Water)

About the Role: As Design Manager, you will work alongside and closely with the senior project team within the Water Treatment Department, you will spearhead the design function for water schemes across the South West of England.

Your responsibilities will include managing and coordinating design processes for complex projects, collaborating closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders. Additionally, you'll play a vital role in securing future projects by contributing to tender processes.

What You'll Be Doing:

 •  Develop creative design solutions in collaboration with project teams and subcontractors, ensuring client briefs are met effectively.
 •  Cultivate strong client relationships from the early concept stages, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project requirements.
 •  Oversee the design process from tender stage to construction completion, applying value engineering principles and construction knowledge to optimize outcomes.
 •  Champion modern construction methods throughout the design process, driving efficiency and sustainability.
 •  Utilise KPIs to monitor and drive design production, ensuring projects remain on track and within scope.

What We Need From You:

 •  Project Management Skills: Demonstrate strong planning, reporting, and organizational abilities, with a focus on program output.
 •  Technical Proficiency: Possess expertise in MS packages, collaborative platforms, and ideally, experience with P6 or similar software.
 •  Construction Knowledge: Showcase a deep understanding of technical construction and the water industry, with familiarity with design standards.
 •  Qualifications: Hold a degree in a relevant construction subject, with professional qualifications such as C.Eng or MCIOB preferred.
