Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be a fully qualified accountant. They will be responsible for a finance team AP/AR administrators and 2 fully qualified Management Accountants. They will be responsible for the daily/monthly/annual management of the department and the team and they will be fully aware of all legal and compliance requirements of the UK.

Main Responsibilities
 •  Responsibility for, and manage, the day-to-day activity of the Finance department and the transaction team, including but not limited to:
 •  Oversee the management of debtors (including invoicing and collection) and creditors and maintain oversight of debtor and creditor ageing with timely escalation to Finance Director when issues arise.
 •  Monitor capital expenditures and operating expenses compared to Budget and Forecasts and follow up on variances.
 •  Provide, and maintain, a robust financial control framework with adequate systems and controls, developing a culture of best practice, continuous improvement and excellence within the Department.
 •  Take ownership of, and have responsibility for, the Balance Sheet.
 •  Assume responsibility for all UK submissions to Group and oversee production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, for UK and Germany.
 •  Period and Year End stock count management, to include policy creation and adherence alongside operational teams.
 •  Ownership, oversight and pro-active management of Company cash flows.
 •  Oversee timely completion of year end processes and submissions to Group.
 •  Completion of year end accounts, and preparation of audit packs for UK and European entities.
 •  Management of the audit process, and primary point of contact for the Auditors.
 •  Manage inter-company balances and relationships, build efficient processes, and challenge policy where necessary.
 •  Develop business partnering to support key operational functional heads, pro-actively building positive relationships.
 •  Ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance for submissions/filings to HM Revenue, Companies House, and working with compliance partners for German authority submissions.
 •  Liaise with key external parties including auditors, banks, tax advisors and lawyers.
 •  Ensuring governance policies are adhered to including approval matrix, and ensuring robust financial control environment.
 •  Support the development of the budget and forecasting plan and reporting cycle.
 •  Continue, and develop, the process documentation structure within Finance.
 •  Leading, mentoring and development of the finance team, being accessible, and building confidence and trust. Act, and be perceived, as a leader to the Finance team.
 •  Work closely, and alongside, the Finance Director, to build a happy, high performing Finance team.
 •  Any other reasonable ad-hoc requests by management.

Level of education:

 •  Qualified accountant (minimum 5 years PQE).

Work experience:

 •  Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Essential skills / experience:

 •  Technically strong, and ability to lead from the front, building confidence and trust within the Finance team.
 •  Ability to work confidently and efficiently in a fast paced and demanding environment.
 •  To prioritise and manage their own, and their teams, workload according to changing priorities.
 •  Strong Excel skills.
 •  Sound working knowledge and understanding of stock systems and ERP.
 •  Solid experience of reporting into Corporate Group Parent outside of the UK.
 •  Experience of working with European/Overseas subsidiaries.
 •  A strong leader and manager of people, with excellent communications skills, including ability to communicate confidently with non-finance colleagues on finance matters.
 •  Inquisitive mindset, with desire for problem solving and attention to detail.
 •  Flexible, positive, enthusiastic, can do approach work ethic.
 •  Personable team player with a hands-on approach.
 •  Self-starter, organised, and able to work on own initiative.
 •  Capacity and gravitas to deputise in absence of Finance Director.

Desirable skills / experience:

 •  Sage 50 and Microsoft Dynamics 365 experienc
 •  Exposure to manufacturing and project based accounting.
 •  Exposure to the media and entertainment technology industry.
 •  Stock management and reconciliation exposure.
 •  Experience of ERP implementations.

Essential requirements:

 •  Right to work and remain in the UK.
 •  Full, Clean UK Driving Licence.
