This vacancy is for a personal assistant to join our client’s support package to support them in their own home. We will be your legal employer on behalf of the client and you will not be asked to support other clients. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.

This vacancy is for 2 x complex personal care assistants in the Worthing area. The hours available are:

  1.  Day Hours - 36 hours (12 hour shifts) Monday to Friday: 8am to 8pm as per rota.
  2.  Night Hours - 36 hours (12 hour shifts) Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 8pm to 8am.
Shift patterns to be discussed during the interview.

About the Client and Support Needed:

I am looking for exceptional, dedicated, skilled personal care assistants to join the team that I am building as I have complex care needs. I live independently in my own home with my wife, who is my main carer.

As a member of our caring team, you'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that can vary day to day, so an amount of flexibility is required. Some of the main duties include:

 •  Administration of medication
 •  Moving and Handling with Hoist
 •  Gastrostomy Care / PEG feeding
 •  Personal Care
 •  Assisting me in the community
 •  Administrative duties
 •  Light housework

Ideally, you would also have previous experience with Status Epilepticus and practical experience of giving Buccal Midazolam and be able to identify and understand a medical emergency.

It is my wish that my support workers are non-smokers.

Training Provided Specific to this Client:

 •  Induction Training
 •  Safeguarding Adults
 •  Health and Safety
 •  First Aid
 •  Food Hygiene
 •  Moving and Handling with Hoist
 •  Gastrostomy Care / PEG feeding

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. If you are 'already known to the client' and have care experience, this will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.

Essential Requirements Identified for this Role:

 •  You should have excellent communication skills
 •  You will be friendly and dynamic with a strong personality and common sense
 •  You will have at least 6 months of complex care experience, which will include dealing with seizures, PEG feed, catheter and administering medication
 •  An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense to be met by HomeCareDirect)
 •  Prepared to commit to long term care for one client in a 'person-centred' way
 •  Willing to be trained to CQC standards to meet the client's needs
 •  Respect Company policies and procedures
 •  Be reliable / non-judgemental / caring / responsible / compassionate
 •  Committed to confidentiality and to treat the client with dignity and respect
