Construction Manager – Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone

Murphy is currently recruiting for a Construction Manager to join our award-winning Energy team on the Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone Project in Norwich. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry.
The Construction Manager will provide leadership for all construction phase activities within the Project Teams promoting Health, Safety, and Environmental and construction best practice as well as coordinating construction resources across the project in close liaison with the Project Managers.

The Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone project is one of national significance, part of the UK government’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The project is located over 60km in Norfolk, from Happisburgh to Necton, with installation of approx.
360km of power cables and over 5km of horizontal direction drilling. The project spans from 2023 to 2028, providing a fantastic, once in a generational opportunity for the successful candidate to build and progress their career.

What will you be doing:

Overall management of project teams during the construction and installation phase of the project.
Co-ordination of constructability input during solutions identification and development phase.
Co-ordination and allocation of construction staff to projects ensuring that appropriate construction and installation staff are appointed to individual projects: based on experience, skills and knowledge.
Liaises with the Project Managers to ensure that the construction resource pool is an appropriate size, with an appropriate blend of skill sets for the projected workload.
Overall management of construction resources including Labour, Plant and Materials.
Overall performance management of subcontractors.
Ensures that the construction and installation teams are accountable for their performance against agreed schedules and man-hour budgets.
Ensures that all construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation.
Ensures that the duties of the Principal Contractor are discharged in accordance with the CDM Regulations.
Ensures that all temporary and permanent construction and installation activities are carried out in accordance with agreed quality procedures.
Interfaces with all other functional leaders within the organisation to facilitate successful development of the project from solution stage constructability through construction, installation, commissioning, and handover to the client.
Ensure regular input from the Project Manager is gained on third party, environmental and public relations issues.

Who we're looking for:

Experience in delivering linear HV Cable projects or major civils projects.
Experience within a Construction Manager role or similar.

HNC / HND or NVQ Level 5 (or Degree)
Experience of working on complex multi-discipline Enhancement projects.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to develop close working relationships with clients and subcontractors.
A true leader with passion for people development, can do attitude and a flare for innovation.
