Job Title: Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
Job Description:
As a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Your responsibilities will involve a combination of clinical expertise, leadership, and coordination within a multidisciplinary team. The following outlines the key duties and qualifications for this role:
1.
Clinical Assessment and Care Planning:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals' mental health needs, including physical health, psychosocial factors, and risk assessment.
• Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with service users, their families, and other healthcare professionals, incorporating evidence-based interventions and recovery-oriented approaches.

Nursing Interventions and Treatment:
• Provide skilled nursing care and therapeutic interventions to individuals with a range of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders.
• Administer medication, monitor treatment efficacy and side effects, and adjust dosage or treatment plans as necessary, in accordance with prescribing protocols and best practice guidelines.
3.
Crisis Intervention and Management:
• Respond promptly and effectively to crisis situations, assessing risk, de-escalating tensions, and implementing appropriate interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of service users and others.
• Coordinate with emergency services, crisis teams, and other relevant agencies to facilitate timely access to acute care and support.
4.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and support workers, to deliver holistic and coordinated care.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and care reviews, sharing clinical insights, contributing to care planning, and ensuring continuity of care across settings.
5.
Leadership and Supervision:
• Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and supervision to junior nursing staff, student nurses, and healthcare assistants, supporting their professional development and promoting high standards of nursing practice.
• Act as a mentor and role model for best practice, demonstrating empathy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions.
6.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, including nursing assessments, care plans, progress notes, and risk management documentation, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure confidentiality, data protection, and information governance principles are upheld at all times, in line with organizational policies and professional codes of conduct.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Registered Nurse qualification (RMN) with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Minimum of several years' post-registration experience in mental health nursing, including experience working with individuals across the lifespan and with diverse mental health conditions.
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of mental health legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and engage effectively with service users and their families.
• Commitment to promoting recovery-oriented practice, person-centered care, and the empowerment of service users to participate in decision-making about their treatment and support.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership, resilience, and adaptability in dynamic and challenging environments.
• Willingness to undergo background checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and adhere to relevant codes of conduct and professional standards.
• Willing to complete the training assigned from trust
