My client in Maidenhead requires a Mechanical Design Engineer due to a growing team.
This is an innovative and rapidly growing company based in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Engaged in cutting edge technology design, build and manufacture.
This role is to join their mechanical engineering team to conduct CAD design of parts for new aircraft and other hardware systems including, but not limited to, structures, interconnects, battery systems, HID's, payloads, drive systems etc. All parts are designed for manufacturing.
The role:
You will be working with production engineers for tooling design, aeronautical engineers for structures modelling, and engineering leads for help with specific questions or technical tasks, to help design all parts needed for R&D of vehicles, and to a greater extent, designing for production.
You will be under the stewardship of the companies lead designers, tasked with helping create vehicles and parts imagined by them to exacting schedules. This is an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to be involved in the next generation of UAV vehicles.
Full time role for an immediate start.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
 •  Has designed VTOL or Fixed Wing drones for other companies (for production)
 •  Workshop experience building drones or RC vehicles
 •  RC/Helicopte flying experience
 •  Composite experience – both designing for and fabricating with carbon fiber.
 •  Electronic basics (for instance, knows what MOSFET)
 •  Batter systems

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 •  Bachelor degree or relevant experience in Engineering, Science, Mathematics
 •  Experience in a small company
 •  Experiencewith designing parts for manufacture
 •  CAD - Solidworks
 •  Demonstrated hands on experience in a workshop (shows you know how to design for fabrication)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 •  Running your own projects with support from senior electrical engineers
 •  Troubleshooting of issues that arise during ground/air tests during trials and on the production line
 •  Assisting in fault finding for mechanical components
 •  Create and maintain documentation in support of production
 •  Report to management on open issues, the frequency and type of issues
 •  Write engineering reports
 •  Work with R&D and the production manager to ensure prototypes are transferred smoothly into production
 •  Collaborate with other departments to de-conflict integration issues
 •  Instruct technicians on manufacture and testing procedures
 •  Support flight testing and demonstrations in the UK and overseas
 •  Ensure constant compliance with safety procedures
