A major Transportation end client organisation is recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their construction programme team. You will assist with the development and subsequent construction of a major project, with a cost allocation of £350M.
This forms part of a larger programme of CAPEX investment which sits at around 1.2bn.

Reporting into the Programme Commercial Manager, and working under the NEC contract conditions, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining cost plans and cost estimates for the project. You'll be working from RIBA 0 all the way through to RIBA 7.

There is a lot of flexibility offered with the position, including hybrid working, so would really suit someone looking to better their life to work balance.

Key responsibilities:

Develop and maintain complete project cost plans and cost estimates to support the governance and procurement processes

Manage project budget ensuring value for money and validation of costs using internal and external benchmarks. Assess contractor's payment applications in accordance with the contract
Perform monthly cost reporting, including provision of Anticipated Final Cost, Actual Cost of Work Performed, and Forecast to Completion
Manage the administration of contracts of varying values and complexity, driving compliance and contractual performance including NEC Option A, C and E, Construction Purchase Orders and Design Purchase Orders.
Manage all contract communication including creating and distributing action lists, meeting minutes, Early Warnings, Project Managers Instructions and Compensation Events, and accepting/rejecting Contractors Notifications

Manage disputes/potential disputes through negotiation, collaborative working and escalation as required

Support the tendering and evaluation process including selection of appropriate procurement strategy and contract, and production of pre-tender estimates
Support the maintenance of the project risk and opportunity register, including valuing the likely cost consequence of each risk/opportunity
Manage the close-out of all assigned projects, implementing close-out plan(s) to ensure all defects are recorded, warranties received, and contracts closed, as well as completion of financial close-out including provision of asset cost data for capitalisation purposes.
Help to mentor and manage Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors within the team

To be successful in this position, it is anticipated that you:

Be educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management
Have demonstrable experience of providing full quantity surveying service on projects with a value typically more than £100M
Have a strong understanding of the NEC suite of contracts, and associated contract administration and negotiations

On offer is a salary of around 70,000 per annum along with a generous benefits package which includes a 20% bonus, a cash allowance, private medical insurance, rail discount and an enhanced employer pension contribution.
