Transport FLM
Fresh people are currently recruiting for a Transport FLM for a Food Manufacturing business based in Stevenage on Nights . Reporting into the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a group of drivers and transport coordinators to ensure ensuring the safe delivery and/or collection of all goods to/from our customers in accordance with all legal and company requirements
The Candidate
Suitable candidates essentially must have previous experience in Transport Logistics Operations Management, CPC qualified with previous leadership/management experience essential. Must be PC literate including a working ability with Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Word; capable of using transport scheduling packages with excellent numeracy and literacy skills .
An analytical thinker, capable of making effective decisions in a fast paced environment.Self-motivated with passion, enthusiasm, tenacity and resilience. Leads by example with the ‘Safety First’ message
Key Role Requirements
• To set clear goals, targets and expectations of performance for all Drivers and transport coordinators on your shifts to ensure all relevant KPI’s are met.
• To ensure the CLA team are given clear direction for Driver debrief sessions, consulting, involving and engaging all team members.
• To ensure all shift members are aware of and complying with environmental, health and safety, legal and company standards and requirements and that all shifts operate in compliance with them.
• To ensure optimal labour utilisation, by making best use of the Company scheduling systems and labour flexibility.
• To recruit, train and develop Drivers and Coordinators who reflect the Company’s Values and who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes and qualifications to perform effectively.
• To execute continuous improvement action plans (e.g. PDP initiatives, productivity improvements, Pulse survey etc) to ensure that CI targets are achieved.
• To ensure that any service issues arising are addressed promptly and where appropriate, escalated, as required.
• Build and develop effective relationships with other teams on site to ensure cross functional working and the optimal performance of the function is achieved.
• Responsible for Hazard, accident and near miss reporting of all drivers, transport coordinators.
• Conducting Health assessment compliance , annual FTA audit, tachograph management along with driving hours and WTD compliance
• Review of all workshop inspection paperwork
• Incident & defect reporting standards
• Fuel efficient driving and route planning
• Ability to build good working relationships, with employees, customers and suppliers.
• Good leadership skills, with a confident, open and honest style of communicating.
