Location and Hours: This role is based on-site daily. Full time onsite, Monday to Friday (09.00 – 17.00)

We have the pleasure of working with an industry leading design and build company that specialise in manufacturing modular exhibition stands. Our client is now seeking a Head of Finance to lead its accelerating finance function within the exciting and fast paced world of the events industry.

If you’re currently an experience Financial Controller, Management Accountant or similar, and havea strong desire to aspire to become a Finance Director in the future, then this role may be for you!

With a focus on visitor engagement, they also lead the way in pioneering exciting new ways for their clients to tell their story with investment in technology and digital content creation skills, setting them apart from any traditional rivals.

This is an exciting, creative, and dynamic business with 80+ strong team based in their prestigious 55,000 sq ft purpose-built facility. Their varied business incorporates a full array of services and disciplines including design, project management, equipment hire, manufacturing, logistics, software development, installation services, printing, storage and more.

Our client has successfully serviced over 150 customers, delivering over 220 exhibition stand projects across the world each year. In addition, their Conference and Portables divisions provide related event services and display products. They are an innovation driven business pioneering new services, products and methodologies for the delivery of exhibition stands, visitor engagement tools, event branding, showrooms, portables displays and more.

The ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will quickly grasp the day to day, take ownership of the management accounts, and daily functions of the department, whilst learning our business and marketplace. Once on top of the basics, the Head of Finance will work with the wider management team to drive system optimization, and other initiatives to contribute to the overall strategic business plans.

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to succeed and develop themselves for future promotion to Financial Director (anticipated progression after 2 years working experience , or less depending on individual performance review).

They are seeking to find a suitable candidate with relatable experience, within in a sector involving production/manufacturing and with ERP/MRP software experience.

Key Responsibilities

§ Prepare with accuracy the monthly management accounts and provide numeration and insights to support the strategic business goals. Completing the month-end accounting process with precision and efficiency.

§ Oversee the preparation of accurate management accounts, providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making

§ Total ownership of the P&L

§ Lead budgeting and forecasting activities, collaborating closely with senior leadership and others to achieve financial targets.

§ Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

§ Work closely with the Managing Director on planning financial modelling and budgeting etc

§ Design, implementation, management and improvement of the finance department’s

processes

§ To prepare of monthly accounts within internal and Group deadlines

§ To proactively lead and manage internal and external audit requirements.

§ To actively participate in the development and implementation of the Company’s

commercial and strategic plans

§ To proactively coordinate the input, and subsequently prepare the annual budget and cash flow forecasts in line with internal and Group deadlines

§ To be the point of contact with Company insurers

§ To responsibility for Treasury management including cash flow management, accounts payable and receivable and subsequent relationship with Bankers

§ To promptly and accurately complete quarterly VAT returns, pension, payroll and other such Government reporting requirements

§ To ensure all legal compliance, financial contracts and legal obligations adhered to

§ To oversee in-house payroll processing with support from HR

§ To ensure all financial controls and procedures operate effectively

§ To encourage and maintain a cost control culture

§ To design, evolve and drive new procedures and processes to enhance financial operations

§ To ensure monthly group re-charges are completed to deadlines set

§ To ensure balance sheet reconciliations are done accurately and on a timely basis

§ To ensure all internal systems and databases are updated in a timely and accurate manner

§ To actively participate in internal and external meetings where attendance is required

§ To carry out any other reasonable managerial request.

Our Requirements (the essentials)

§ No less than 3 years proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, ideally within the manufacturing industry

§ Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

§ Solid understanding of financial principles and regulations.

§ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

§ Advanced proficiency in financial software and MS Excel.

§ Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

§ Strong commercial analytical experience

§ Working knowledge of financial / ERP / payroll systems

§ Excellent interpersonal skills / ability to communicate effectively with non-finance professionals.

§ Pragmatic with sound problem solving abilities, and an exceptional eye for detail

§ Excellent organisational and time management skills

§ Desire to become expand and become integral to the business, not just the accounts department
