Role Overview
Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Lewes, East Sussex (hybrid)
Salary: £65,000+ (DOE)
Purpose: scoping and delivery of all customer projects delivered to maximum commercial benefit and customer satisfaction
Reports: monthly management team reports / project status reports including commercial reports
Reporting to the Head of Projects Engineering, the Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of PAVA and Station Management Systems on a UK rail network. The role will require coordination with the company's R&D Group to ensure successful delivery of work packages that will then be deployed by the Project team.
The role will encompass completion of the System Design, Testing, Commissioning and Acceptance and Handover of the project to the client. Additional Projects may be added to the Project Manager's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
• Reporting project performance, highlighting and managing all risks & issues and their mitigations throughout the project life cycle
• Producing and managing Project Management documentation (e.g. Project Programme / Schedule, Project Execution Plan etc.)
• Providing support to and production of project deliverable documentation (e.g. Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) etc.
• Managing budgets, project risks, issues, project scope and project change control
• Delivery of the Project Compliance Statement with the support of Product Managers and R&D Group as required
• Identifying and managing the acceptance of project variations as and when they arise
• Working with customers, colleagues and stakeholders to resolve technical and logistical problems, taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
• Ensure compliance to Health & Safety and Contractual obligations are met
• Always ensuring the adoption of a full ownership end-to-end culture
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
• Experience delivering communications systems within a railway environment; experience of operations / control centre systems would be an advantage
• Contract and commercial management experience
• Producing and managing Project Programme (Schedule) in P6 and/or MSP
• Managing project budgets and forecasts
• Delivery of station management systems and / or integrated communications systems platforms would be an advantage
• Identifying and managing technical risks within a project environment
• Working independently with minimal guidance
• Strong and proven ability to work under pressure
• Good client-facing skills and commercial acumen
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
• Managing and coordinating complex projects with multiple suppliers including on-site activities
• Experience working on the delivery of engineering projects
• Strong leadership skills
• Commercial project management experience
