A SEN School based in Hillingdon is seeking a Literacy Lead to join their dynamic and friendly team of specialist staff. The school is an ‘Outstanding’ rated SEN School for students aged 7-19, with severe learning difficulties, complex needs and associated speech and language disorders.
They are a member of the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) and an accredited PBS School. The school provides a child-centred curriculum, fully adapted to each persons developmental and learning needs.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher and Leader to provide positive and stimulating learning experiences, leading the schools Literacy provision as part of the Middle Leadership Team. As a SEN Literacy Lead, you will take the lead to plan, coordinate and quality assure the subject area to ensure that the subject is consistently well planned throughout the school, paying special attention to the structure, methodology and delivery of learning experiences.

You will use your experience of practical, experimental and therapeutic education strategies to ensure the students fully engage in their learning, and are given all the tools needed to reach their full potential.

Person Specification – SEN Literacy Lead
 •  Must have UK QTS
 •  Have experience co-ordinating, leading and quality assuring your subject area as subject leader
 •  A positive, 'can do' attitude and willingness to support colleagues
 •  A good sense of humour that will make learning engaging for students
 •  Have experience of working with young people with a range of learning needs and destination aims and developing appropriate strategies to help them achieve their goals
 •  Excellent communication and organisational skills with a practical approach to engaging pupils
 •  Have experience of working with students with special educational needs and learning disabilities
 •  Experience preparing students for examinations and assessments
 •  The ability to create meaningful connections with students and build strong relationships
 •  Enthusiasm and expertise to lead the Literacy department
