About Us
Freshsteps is an OFSTED-rated Outstanding independent alternative provision for pupils aged 5–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. We have recently expanded to include a new sixth form hub, sports arena, therapeutic soft play area, modern library, and specialist learning facilities.
Our unique curriculum combines academic learning with enrichment experiences such as horse-riding, swimming, and vocational pathways. We are committed to helping every student achieve both personal and academic success in a safe and supportive setting.
The Role
You will teach English across Key Stages 3 to 5, including Functional Skills, GCSE and potentially A-Level, to small classes (maximum 8 pupils), with the support of a classroom assistant. You will plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that are accessible and impactful for learners with a wide range of needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is enthusiastic about inclusive education, passionate about literacy and communication, and confident in supporting pupils with SEMH needs.
We’re Looking For- A qualified English teacher with experience across KS3–KS5
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and adaptive planning
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH and/or SEN is essential
- Skilled in managing behaviour supportively and positively
- Confident delivering a curriculum that builds engagement and achievement
- A reflective practitioner committed to growth, collaboration and high standards
- Familiarity with EHCPs and tailored learning approaches
