Level & Purpose
The Sustainability Manager is a crucial role in the organisation, leading all sustainability activities; with a key focus on the delivery of our ambitious Wave 3 application that comprises of all 2000 properties currently in STAR’s management that do not yet achieve EPC C.To support and enables these activities the post manages a team comprising of contract officers, finance and administration support.
The post is in the Assets directorate, which ensures that assets are fit for purpose and meet the needs of our residents and staff through a variety of activities such as compliance, building and condition surveying, planned maintenance, sustainable interventions, aids and adaptations, and commissioning new developments.
The post holder will be responsible to the Assistant Director of Assets.
Main Duties & Key Responsibilities- Successfully delivering the organisation’s SHDF Wave 3 funded programme of achieving EPC C in circa. 2000 properties.
- Project Management of circa £20 million funding, as part of STAR’s Wave 3.
- Oversee the appointment of external Contractors and undertake effective contractor management, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget and to the specified quality standards.
- Operate as STAR’s intelligent client, maximizing funding opportunities and safeguarding project delivery.
- Lead on a wide range of programmes, building extensive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners and other relevant stakeholders, in order to achieve specified outcomes.
- Day to day responsibility for all sustainable and decarbonisation activities.
- Investigating managing and reporting on all new funding opportunities.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation and government targets.
- Being STAR’s ambassador for energy and environmental sustainability, within the sector.
- Maintain awareness of, evaluate and disseminate relevant new Government policy, technology and good practice.
- Developing and maintaining a robust approach to SAP/energy data.
- Developing STAR’s strategy to achieve net zero by 2050.
- People management responsibility of the sustainability team.
- Budget holder responsibility within the sustainability team.
- Monitoring personal performance against targets and taking action to ensure targets are achieved.
- Maintaining property database systems and records, where appropriate entering/maintain/interrogate data and produce reports as required. Assist with data analysis, reports and Key Performance Indicators.
