About the role
This post is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join the MSSC Midlands Boat Station in providing watersports and youth development opportunities and courses to Sea Cadets and local youth and education groups.Work towards and gain your Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor (OAI)Apprentice Qualification.
You will work as part of the Midlands Boat Station team learning about the general day to day running of a brand-new benchmark facility. And will be trained to assist and deliver a wide range of water sports which will include some or all the following: sailing, kayaking, canoeing, SUP, rowing & powerboating.You will help support our On the Water outreach project delivering first time water experiences to hard-to-reach local children opening their eyes to opportunities not normally within their reach.
Responsibilities- Support the Boat Station Manager in delivering a programme of water-based activities for our own members and external groups.
- Attend Training and skills acquisition to fulfil the Level 3 OAI qualification.
- Assist in ensuring fleets of boats and other equipment are well maintained in accordance with Inshore Boating Operation & Standards and industry best practise.
- Help with cleaning and maintaining the facility as and when required.
- Promote a good working relationship with other water users and unit members.
- Report any safety hazards and incidents/accidents to the chief Instructor.
- Undertake appropriate in-house or external training to fulfil the requirements of the job.
- To occasionally attend other Inshore Boating locations for training or support delivery as directed by Boat Station Manager.
