We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has a desire to seek a career in emergency planning within the Local Authority as well as achieving a recognised qualification in resilience and emergency planning.

During your apprenticeship we will support you to meet your full potential through a mixture of hands on training and academic study at Coventry University with a view to achieving a degree in Resilience and Emergency. There will be a requirement for you to attend Coventry during your apprentice period.

After the successful completion of this apprenticeship, you will have developed the skills. experience, qualifications and attributes which will allow you to pursue a career in emergency planning as an Emergency Planning Officer.

Your apprenticeship
  • Level 6 Resilience and Emergencies Professional
  • 42 months (3 years of study, with 6-month End Point Assessment period)

Completing your apprenticeship does not guarantee a full-time position. However, we are dedicated to helping you find a job. You will have priority access when you apply for vacancies. This applies during the final 3 months of your contract.

The team

The Joint Emergency Planning Unit was formed in 2005 between all Suffolk local authorities to provide an emergency planning and business continuity planning service. The team provide a focal point for civil emergency preparedness within Suffolk councils.

You will need
  • a minimum of Level 3 qualification (e.g., A-levels)
  • relevant work experience or volunteering (e.g., Duke of Edinburgh Award, cadets).
