SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Cheltenham
Salary: £95 - £105 per day
Contract: Full-time, Temp-to-Perm

Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30 - 15:30

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and specialised team at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Cheltenham. The successful candidate will work closely with children who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, supporting them in reaching their full potential within a nurturing and safe environment.
  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, in both individual and group settings.
  • Design and deliver inclusive, engaging learning activities that meet the specific needs of each child.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage positive behaviour management and provide guidance to help students effectively manage their emotions.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students, parents, and staff members.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed to meet learning objectives.
  • Previous experience working with children who have SEMH needs is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach to working with children.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
